Zilart Missions (Final Fantasy)

The New Frontier

After defeating the Shadow Lord, go to Norg for the cutscene.

Welcome t'Norg

Talk to Gilgamesh in Norg at L-8.

Kazham's Chieftainness

Jakoh Wahcondalo (the Kazham Chieftaness) gives you the Key Item Sacrificial Chamber Key. This is used to reach the deeper areas of the Temple of Uggalippeh. If I'm not mistaken the position is at J-9.

The Temple of Uggalepih

There are 4 distinct components of this mission that will help you succeed:

1) Obtain an unlit lantern four yourself and 3 others.

2) Obtain one paintbrush of souls

3) Reset your tonberry hate

4) Head for the BCNM and do battle.

3) can be prepared solo, at any time. Read below.

Getting an unlit lantern

Refer to this map: Temple of Uggilepih

I got my unlit lantern while killing coffer mobs at H-6 of the 3rd map (counting left to right, top to bottom). Simply assemble a coffer-key skillup party for uggalepih temple (both samurai and summoners need this coffer) and fight until a lantern drops. Ask for the lot.

Obtaining a paintbrush

Tonberry cutters do drop uggalepih keys, but I can't exactly recall where there are more than 2 of them at any given time. I think in the end our party went roaming around and slaughtering every tonberry we saw until we found a good cache of cutters (yes Everyone's Grudge got a good deal more powerful, but whatever. ^^).

Everyone who wants a paintbrush needs a key, and the key can only be used once. Take your key to F-7 of the first map and trade the key to the door there. Now walk around the small library you're in and touch everything in the room until you are given the paintbrush of souls. Just make sure you get the paintbrush before you exit the room; to re-enter you will need to get another key.

Resetting your tonberry hate

by now you have killed a lot of tonberries.

Anyone who has ever taken a swing at a tonberry prepare the following quest: Everyone's Grudge

The hate-reset tonberry is at F-11 of the first map. Just make everyone do it before proceeding with this mission. Better safe than sorry. Our WAR took maybe 250-300 damage from Everyone's Rancor, all from the tonberries we killed on the way to the Sacrificial Chamber, which was like 3. You don't want to know how much damage it can do if you've killed dozens or hundreds since the last time you reset your hate (watch yourself, black mages).

How to use the paintbrush

Follow the directions in the guide to get to the room with the paintings. clear the room. Now have the person with the paintbrush examine all the paintings in the room, not just the empty frame. Afterwards, have them examine the empty frame on the eastern wall. The message log should read 'by focusing on the paintbrush of souls….etc etc etc.'

At this point they should do nothing. No typing, no moving, just put your hands at your sides and wait a good 60 seconds. When a good minute has passed, have them press Enter and the door to the Den of Rancor should open within a few seconds. If they move, target something else, type, ANYTHING, they will have to start over. This is basically the reason to clear the room first, to give the person time to do this.

The battle

THF > BLM > SMN. The thief is the one wearing the crown. Any other order will get one or the lot of you killed. The worst thing that can happen if you try to kill the BLM first is that he will Throat Stab your tank, and the THF will run up and one-shot him now that his HP is next to nothing. This happened to my party.

Do NOT ignore the pet! That would be idiotic since depending on its type (we got a water elemental) it can do horrible things to your party. Sleep and Silence it and keep it that way. You do not have to kill it to win, but do not ignore it.

Make sure everyone is near full health before taking on the SMN mob. We lucked out, he summoned Ifrit on watersday, so his Astral Flow did very little damage (but it was still enough to kill our weakened tank a second time ; . If you must, just have the whm guess at the bar-ra spell to cast. You have a 1 in 6 chance of success (as far as I know he doesn't summon carbuncle or fenrir). Shellra IV goes a long way here, too.
